I worked half-day today in the preschool which I'm going to work with for the next 1 year. I'm really glad that there's someone to guide me and do the handover properly :) Taking the toddlers is a big challenge. Even though I don't have to worry about the curriculum, routine care can be quite torturing. Kids with mucus running down their nose, keeping a look out for biters & hitters, making sure that all of them is safe & doing something, changing diapers (& it's worse if they have diarrhea) & feeding and the list goes on and down to administrative work that I will be responsible for in times to come. & in order to get down to their eye level, I have to squat down most of the time, adding pressure on my already-injured ankle. It hurts. 'Medically', I have to sit down crossing my legs (okay, sitting cross legged is no good too) instead of squatting but it's slower to react to situations when I'm seated :( Argh. Worse of all, I couldn't go for physiotherapy because the only available days are my working days, so I guess I have to do acupuncture again. Eek! The thought of those needles poking through my skin still freaks me out :( So, when I'm done with the day, I'm actually a countless-of-bacteria-carrier because the kids hugged me from behind, smearing their mucus and porridge (on their faces) on my back & everywhere else. haha.
Well, there are the good sides about being with these kids :) They can be so cute that sometimes I don't even know if I should get angry or not. & I want to cultivate the habit of them hugging their friends, teachers and me :D I'm not a pedophile, just that I wish they can show love to the people around them with actions since they couldn't express themselves verbally. But first, I need to get to know them, their personality, likes and dislikes, needs and wants, & how about going to know and work with their parents. Just like the photo below :D & I'm so proud of myself to be able to organize the data provided by the teacher this way:
